macOS 26 Tahoe: Everything to Expect at WWDC 2025

Apple is set to unveil macOS 26, likely named macOS Tahoe, at WWDC on June 9, 2025. The version jump from macOS 15 to 26 aligns all Apple OS versions under a year-based naming scheme.

Design Overhaul Inspired by visionOS

macOS 26 brings a major visual redesign inspired by visionOS, with elements like translucency, rounded corners, and floating menus. This overhaul, internally codenamed "Solarium", aims for a more cohesive look across platforms.

Apple Intelligence Integration

Apple is expanding Apple Intelligence features. Shortcuts will support AI-driven actions, and Siri is expected to gain personal context, onscreen awareness, and app integration—though some updates may roll out later in 2026. Google Gemini support is rumored to join ChatGPT in the AI backend.

Accessibility Upgrades

New features include Magnifier (using iPhone camera), Accessibility Reader, Braille Ready Format (BRF) support, and Accessibility Nutrition Labels in the App Store. Vehicle Motion Cues and Captive Wi-Fi Syncing will also be added.

Gaming and Smart Home

A new Game app will unify Apple Arcade, Game Center, and more. homeOS may debut with a new Home app integrated into macOS.

Compatibility

macOS 26 may drop support for Intel Macs, including the 2018 MacBook Pro, iMac Pro, and 2020 Intel MacBook Air—accelerating the transition to Apple Silicon.

Release Timeline

A developer beta is expected immediately after WWDC, with a public release in September 2025.
