iPhone 17 Pro Rumored to Bring Major Camera Upgrades

Apple’s next-generation iPhone 17 Pro is rumored to introduce several significant camera enhancements, according to an anonymous tipster who contacted MacRumors. While these details are yet to be verified, they hint at a major leap in Apple’s mobile photography game.
8x Optical Zoom & Advanced Telephoto Lens
The iPhone 17 Pro is said to feature a new Telephoto lens capable of up to 8× optical zoom, a noticeable jump from the 5× zoom in the iPhone 16 Pro models. The lens reportedly supports continuous optical zoom, which allows smoother transitions between focal lengths without digital cropping.
New Pro Camera App in the Works
Apple is also reportedly working on an all-new Pro Camera app for both photography and videography. This app may compete with popular third-party options like Halide and Filmic Pro. However, the tipster added that Apple might instead roll out a major update to the existing Final Cut Camera app.
Extra Camera Control Button
A new Camera Control button on the top edge of the iPhone 17 Pro may provide quicker access to camera settings. This would work alongside the existing Action Button found on iPhone 16 models, further enhancing user control.
Copper Color and Centered Apple Logo
The tipster also backed previous claims about a new copper-like color option and a centered Apple logo on the back of the device, adding to the rumored design refresh.
Improved Video Capabilities
The iPhone 17 Pro is expected to continue Apple’s focus on professional video features. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman previously reported on enhanced video recording, while Jon Prosser claimed the device will support simultaneous recording using front and rear cameras.
Treat with Caution
These rumors are currently unverified and should be taken with a grain of salt. However, with the iPhone 17 Pro anticipated to bring a redesigned rear camera system and three 48MP lenses, the stage is set for Apple to make a major leap in mobile photography once again.
