iPhone 17 Air Latest Leak Reveals Impressive and Questionable Design Choices

A new series of leaks has shed light on Apple's upcoming iPhone 17 Air, highlighting some impressive and questionable design choices. According to leaker yeux1122, the device will feature a sleek 5.5mm profile, weigh just 145 grams, and pack a 2800mAh battery.

Featherlight Build, Ultra-Thin Profile

The iPhone 17 Air is expected to feel incredibly light in the hand, weighing about the same as the iPhone 13 mini (141g) or iPhone SE 2 (148g). This is particularly notable given the phone’s larger 6.6-inch display. With its ultra-slim 5.5mm body, it’s poised to undercut even Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge, which measures 5.8mm thick.

Underwhelming Battery Capacity

The leaked 2800mAh battery puts the iPhone 17 Air closer to the iPhone 12 in terms of capacity, but far behind the current iPhone 16 (3561mAh) and 16 Plus (4674mAh). Reports suggest only 60–70% of users might get a full day of usage without charging, compared to the usual 80–90%.

Possible Boost via High-Density Battery

There’s a chance Apple could use a high-density battery in the same size, potentially boosting actual capacity by 15–20%.

Software to the Rescue?

iOS 19 is rumored to include AI-powered battery optimizations, and Apple may also release an optional battery case.

The iPhone 17 Air is expected to launch this September, replacing the Plus model in Apple’s lineup.
