iOS 26 Brings Fresh Look to Camera and Photos Apps

At WWDC 2025, Apple introduced long-awaited changes to its Camera and Photos apps in iOS 26, aiming to fix the confusing UI issues introduced in the last major redesign.
A Sleeker Camera Experience
The Camera app gets a subtle but impactful visual refresh. Now styled with Apple’s new Liquid Glass design, it features translucent UI elements that make it look cleaner and more modern. While functionality remains mostly the same, switching between photo and video modes is now easier thanks to a streamlined interface with just two main options on the bottom. Additional modes like Panorama or Portrait can still be accessed by swiping.
One of the most useful changes is the quicker access to resolution settings—now easily toggled near the top of the display, eliminating extra steps.
Photos App Gets a Much-Needed Cleanup
Perhaps the bigger story is the overhaul of the Photos app, which many users found unintuitive after last year’s redesign. In iOS 26, the app is simplified and easier to navigate, with just two main tabs at the bottom: Library and Collections. The Library likely shows all your photos, while Collections will feature custom folders or albums. While the underlying functionality is similar, the layout feels more user-friendly and approachable.
A Sneak Peek at 3D Photos

Apple also teased a new 3D Photos feature that brings a holographic-like effect to your pictures. Though details are still limited, it’s an intriguing addition that we can’t wait to see in action.
