Five Features Coming to AirPods Pro 3

Apple hasn’t updated the AirPods Pro since 2022, but that’s about to change. The AirPods Pro 3 are expected to launch later this year, likely alongside the iPhone 17 at Apple’s annual September event. From health tracking to better audio, here’s what’s rumored for Apple’s next-gen earbuds.
Health Monitoring Sensors
Following in the footsteps of the Powerbeats Pro 2, the new AirPods Pro are expected to include heart rate monitoring. Apple may also add in-ear temperature sensing, offering more accurate readings than skin-based sensors like those on the Apple Watch.
Improved Audio Quality
Thanks to a new H-series chip—likely the H3—the AirPods Pro 3 should deliver better sound. Apple might bring Lossless Audio to more devices beyond Vision Pro and potentially upgrade to Bluetooth 5.4, reducing latency and improving stability.
Next-Level Noise Cancellation
The new H3 chip could also enhance Active Noise Cancellation and Adaptive Audio. With faster processing, environmental sounds will be filtered even more efficiently, making listening more immersive in noisy environments.
Refined Design
Design updates are expected, possibly borrowing elements from the standard AirPods 4. That means a slimmer charging case, a hidden pairing button, and a concealed LED. The earbuds themselves may get a smaller in-ear piece and a shorter stem.
Better Find My Tracking
AirPods Pro 3 are likely to feature Apple’s second-generation Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip, providing more accurate location tracking through the Find My app.
Bonus: Live Translation for All
While Live Translation was once rumored as an exclusive AirPods Pro 3 feature, Apple has made it available to all AirPods paired with Apple Intelligence-compatible devices running iOS 26, iPadOS 18, or macOS Sequoia.
Stay tuned for more as we get closer to Apple’s big fall event. The AirPods Pro 3 might just be the biggest update to the Pro lineup yet.
