Everything New in FaceTime with iOS 26

iOS 26 brings one of the biggest updates to FaceTime in years, introducing a refreshed design, smarter calling tools, and powerful new features powered by Apple Intelligence. Here’s a breakdown of what’s new.

Redesigned Home Screen

The FaceTime app now opens to a completely new home screen.

  • Recent calls and contacts are displayed as cards with contact photos, call details, and a quick button to start a new call.
  • Cards look especially polished if you’ve set up contact posters. If someone left you a video message, it auto-plays as you scroll.
  • A new green “New Call” button sits at the bottom, while filter tools are available in the top-right.

Liquid Glass Interface

The new Liquid Glass design language comes to FaceTime.

  • Menus and buttons adopt the translucent, fluid look seen across iOS 26.
  • Call controls now fade away automatically so they don’t block your video feed.
  • The updated three-dot menu gives quick access to screen sharing, SharePlay, and Live Translation.

Live Translation

FaceTime now supports real-time translation for supported iPhones.

  • Spoken words are instantly displayed as translated captions on-screen.
  • The feature works for one-on-one calls in English (U.S. & UK), French, German, Portuguese (Brazil), and Spanish (Spain).

Silence Unknown Callers

Tired of spam FaceTime calls? iOS 26 adds an option to silence calls from unknown numbers.

  • These calls won’t ring, but they’ll be listed under the filters menu for review.

Communication Safety & Nudity Detection

Apple is expanding Communication Safety protections in FaceTime.

  • With Sensitive Content Warning turned on, FaceTime will freeze a call if nudity is detected and display a warning.
  • You can then choose to resume or end the call.
  • While designed with child accounts in mind, this option is available for adults too.

FaceTime in iOS 26 is smarter, safer, and more personal — making it one of the standout updates in Apple’s latest release.
