Chrome for iOS Now Lets You Easily Switch Between Work and Personal Accounts

Google has rolled out a new update for the Chrome app on iPhone and iPad that makes it significantly easier for users to switch between personal and managed work accounts. This update is part of the Chrome Enterprise platform and is especially useful for iOS users in bring-your-own-device (BYOD) work environments.

Seamless Account Switching for iOS Users

With this new functionality, iOS users can now seamlessly swap between their personal and managed work accounts in Chrome without needing to log in and out repeatedly. When switching to a managed work account, Chrome ensures that all data, such as tabs, history, and passwords, remains isolated between the two profiles. This separation ensures that corporate data stays protected while keeping personal browsing private.

Designed for BYOD and Enterprise Security

Google’s goal with this update is to support businesses that allow employees to use their own devices. The improved account switching ensures that corporate policies are enforced while maintaining a smooth user experience. An onboarding screen explains how the separation works, and users receive an on-screen confirmation when entering a managed session.

Added Enterprise Features: Reporting and URL Filtering

In addition to account switching, Google is also extending Chrome Enterprise reporting capabilities to iOS. Organizations can now send important security-related events to the Google Admin console or Chrome logs.

Moreover, Chrome on iOS now supports URL filtering—previously available only on desktop and Android. This allows companies to block access to unauthorized websites and redirect users to approved alternatives, including restrictions on certain generative AI tools.

Limitations

It’s worth noting that this functionality is only available for switching between personal and managed work accounts. It does not support switching between two standard Google accounts on iOS.

This update aligns Chrome for iOS with its desktop and Android counterparts, offering enterprise users a more secure and convenient way to manage work and personal browsing on the same device.
