Charge Your Apple Watch Faster: What You Need to Know

Fast charging is one of the most convenient upgrades in recent Apple Watch models. It lets you boost your battery far quicker than before, and with Apple Watch Series 11 and Apple Watch Ultra 3, speeds have improved even more. Just keep in mind that you’ll need the right accessories to take full advantage.

These Apple Watch models offer fast-charge capability:

  • Series 7: 0–80% in ~45 minutes

  • Series 8: 0–80% in ~45 minutes

Apple has an official support guide explaining the full fast-charging details for these models.

What You Need for Fast Charging

1. Apple USB-C Magnetic Fast Charging Cable

Recent Apple Watch models ship with Apple’s USB-C Magnetic Fast Charging Cable (model A2515). The aluminum-ring design differentiates it from older charging pucks.
If you want extra cables, you can buy them separately for $29 and use them across all your charging spots.

2. A Compatible USB-C Power Adapter

Apple no longer includes a power brick in the box. To fast-charge, you’ll need any USB-C adapter that supports USB Power Delivery (USB-PD) at 5W or higher. Reliable third-party options from brands like Anker are available for under $20.

Supported Apple power adapters include:

  • 18W, 20W, 29W, 30W, 61W, 87W, and 96W USB-C adapters

  • Or any third-party USB-PD charger (5W+)

Important Notes

  • MagSafe Duo and the Apple Watch Magnetic Charging Dock do not support fast charging, no matter which cable or adapter you use.

  • You can place the fast-charge puck inside a third-party dock, as long as the puck itself is the A2515 fast-charging model.
