Apple Unveils New 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 Chip

Apple has officially announced the new 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by the all-new M5 chip, promising the next big leap in AI for the Mac with up to 3.5x faster AI performance compared to M4.

M5 Chip: Major Performance Boost

The M5 chip brings notable improvements across CPU, GPU, and storage:

  • 10-core CPU with up to 20% faster multithreaded performance

  • Next-gen 10-core GPU with a Neural Accelerator in each core

  • 1.6x faster graphics in pro apps and games vs. M4

  • 2x faster SSD performance for large file operations

  • Up to 4TB of SSD storage (up from 2TB)

  • 153GB/s memory bandwidth (vs. 120GB/s on M4)

These upgrades make the new MacBook Pro ideal for AI tasks, creative workflows, and demanding professional use.

Design and Features

The M5 MacBook Pro retains the same sleek design, featuring a Liquid Retina XDR display with a nano-texture option, a 12MP Center Stage camera, six-speaker audio, and a wide range of ports.

It also integrates Apple Intelligence capabilities and runs on macOS Tahoe, enhancing both productivity and creativity. Battery life remains excellent — up to 24 hours on a single charge.

Apple’s Statement

“M5 marks the next big leap in AI for the Mac,” said John Ternus, Apple’s SVP of Hardware Engineering. “With its amazing performance, extraordinary battery life, and unrivaled display, M5 takes the new 14-inch MacBook Pro to another level.”

Price and Availability

The new 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 starts at $1,599, the same as its predecessor. Orders open today, with availability beginning October 22.

Currently, there’s no 16-inch M5 model, and M5 Pro and M5 Max chips are expected to debut in early 2026.
