Apple Unveils iPhone 17 Lineup: Air Model Debuts

Apple has officially taken the wraps off the iPhone 17 family, marking one of its biggest refreshes in years. The lineup introduces a brand-new iPhone Air, replacing last year’s Plus model, alongside the standard iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. With this launch, Apple has also retired several older iPhones.

The New iPhone Lineup and Pricing

Here’s how Apple’s smartphone portfolio looks after today’s shake-up:

  • iPhone 16e – $599
  • iPhone 16 – $699
  • iPhone 16 Plus – $799
  • iPhone 17 – $799
  • iPhone 17 Air – $999
  • iPhone 17 Pro – $1,099
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max – $1,199

The Pro series gets a $100 bump compared to last year’s models, but the trade-off is more storage — all new iPhones now start at 256GB, unlike last year’s 128GB baseline.

Fresh Color Options

Apple is also putting extra emphasis on finishes this year:

  • iPhone 17: Black, Lavender, Mist Blue, Sage, White (aluminum build)
  • iPhone Air: Space Black, Cloud White, Light Gold, Sky Blue (titanium finish)
  • iPhone 17 Pro & Pro Max: Deep Blue, Cosmic Orange, Silver

Accessories to Match

The launch also brings new official accessories, including:

  • TechWoven cases for all iPhone 17 models
  • Clear cases, with a new white accent window on Pro models
  • A unique bumper case for iPhone Air
  • Crossbody strap compatible with this year’s cases
  • MagSafe battery pack designed specifically for iPhone Air

Availability

Pre-orders for the iPhone 17 lineup open Friday, September 12, with general availability on Friday, September 19. Discontinued models like the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 Pro series may still be found at Apple Stores for a short time at discounted rates, but supply is expected to be very limited.
