Apple Officially Announces iPhone 17 Event: “Awe Dropping”
Apple has confirmed its next big event for Tuesday, September 9, where it will unveil the iPhone 17 lineup alongside new Apple Watch hardware. The event teaser features an infrared Apple logo and the tagline “Awe dropping.”
iPhone 17 Lineup
Apple will announce four new iPhone 17 models:
- iPhone 17
- iPhone 17 Air (ultra thin design)
- iPhone 17 Pro
- iPhone 17 Pro Max
The iPhone 17 will largely continue the iPhone 16 design with internal upgrades. The new iPhone 17 Air replaces the Plus model with a thinner, lighter build and slightly smaller display.
The Pro models will bring:
- Redesigned camera system stretching across the back
- Thicker build for better battery life (especially Pro Max)
- Higher starting price with fewer storage options
Following the launch, Apple is expected to discontinue iPhone 15, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Apple Watch Updates
Apple will also introduce:
- Apple Watch Series 11
- Apple Watch Ultra 3
As always, new watch bands in fresh designs and materials are expected.
AirPods and Accessories
- Possible reveal of AirPods Pro 3
- New TechWoven premium case option, Apple’s next material after the FineWoven phase-out
- Rumored “Liquid Silicone” branding for standard silicone cases
- Cases may include dual lanyard holes for an upcoming Crossbody Strap
- Potential revival of a MagSafe battery pack, starting with iPhone 17 Air
- Rumored return of an iPhone 4-style Bumper case for iPhone 17 Air
